Short answer
Chile's public record of manufacturers comes from two sources: the tax service's list of companies, with tax ID, activity, workers and address, and the environment ministry's emissions register, with plants and coordinates. Testigo holds 28,260 records from them, company file dated 2026-01-29.

Two sources, and what each one is
The tax service, SII, publishes lists of legal entities. The company file for the commercial year 2024 has 994,476 companies, 74,252 of them in manufacturing. Separate files give addresses and activity codes, which SII updated in August 2026.
The environment ministry publishes RETC. Plants that declare waste or emissions appear in it under their own name, with coordinates. Testigo read two of the declaration files for 2025 and found 2,212 manufacturing establishments belonging to 1,619 companies.
Testigo holds the plants from the emissions register and the companies in the tax file that report at least one worker. Many companies in the tax file report none.
The emissions register is only partly read. Other declaration files and earlier years would add plants. One of the two files read has a share-alike licence, ODbL.
Which fields exist, and which do not
| Field | Tax service list | Emissions register |
|---|---|---|
| Tax ID | Yes, every row | Yes, the company's |
| Legal name | Yes | Yes |
| Plant name | No | Yes, for most rows |
| Activity | Yes, a six-digit code in Chile's version of CIIU | Yes, the same classification |
| Size | A sales band and a worker count | No |
| Address | Yes, the company's current domicile, with commune | Street for 70% of rows, commune for all |
| Coordinates | No | Yes, nearly every row |
| Start date | Yes | No |
| Phone, email, website | No | No |
The sales band is a number from 1 to 13 and the file has no legend. Its order was inferred from SII's page. The worker count is per employer and is tied to the head office, not to each plant.
SII also publishes a file of branches, with 13,159 current branch addresses of manufacturing companies. It is not on Testigo yet.
What "active" means in Chile
The tax file records when a company ends its business, the término de giro. A company with none is shown as Sin término de giro. That is the nearest thing to an active status, and it describes the commercial year 2024.
A plant in the emissions register filed a declaration for 2025. That is separate evidence that the plant operated.
The tax ID: RUT
A Chilean RUT is a number followed by a check digit, written after a hyphen. The check digit can be a digit or the letter K. A company and all of its plants share one RUT, so several records can carry the same one.
Official lists
No sanction or programme list is loaded for Chile. The emissions register is used as a source of plants, not as a flag.
How to search Chile on Testigo

What is not checked
- How to reach the company. Neither source gives a contact.
- The terms of reuse of the tax file. SII states none, only a disclaimer of responsibility for the data.
- Certificates, capacity, quality and financial health.
- Plants that file no environmental declaration. They appear only through their company.
Frequently asked questions
Does Chile publish a list of companies with their RUT?
Yes. The tax service, SII, publishes lists of legal entities with the RUT, legal name, activity, a sales band, the number of workers, the commune and the address. The page states no licence, only a disclaimer. The files do not include a phone, an email, a website or coordinates.
Where do the coordinates of Chilean plants come from?
From RETC, the emissions and transfers register of the environment ministry. Plants that declare waste or emissions appear there with their own name and coordinates. Testigo shows those as exact positions. Companies that come only from the tax file get an approximate position, the centre of their commune.
What does Sin término de giro mean?
It means the tax file records no end of business for the company. In Chile a company that stops trading files a término de giro with the tax service. Testigo shows the status as written. It describes the commercial year of the file, so confirm with the company that it still operates.
